WHAT COURSES ARE AVAILABLE IN LANDSCAPING?

There are many options depending on where you want to go in your career path.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN
CAREER DEVELOPMENT

If you have completed a Diploma in Landscape Design:

You want to stay in this area and complete a further qualification such as a Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture

OR

You want to know how to construct the designs. You can complete a CIII in Landscape Construction.


LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION
CAREER DEVELOPMENT

If you have completed CIII in Landscape Construction:

You want to stay in this area and complete a further qualification such as CIV in Landscape, then a Diploma of Landscape Project Management or a Diploma of Landscape Design.

OR

You need to be a licensed irrigator, so you complete the CIII in Irrigation.

OR

You need to know more about Natural Area Restoration, so you do a CIII in Land Management.

There are many options available to you; however, these are a few more common career development paths.

LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE
CAREER DEVELOPMENT

If you have completed CIII in Horticulture:

You want to stay in this area and complete a further qualification such as CIV in Horticulture, CIV in Parks and Gardens, then a Diploma of Parks and Gardens.

OR

You need to be a licensed irrigator, so you complete the CIII in Irrigation.

OR

You need to know more about Trees, so you do a CIII in Arboriculture.

ARE THERE OTHER COURSES THAT COULD HELP ME IN MY BUSINESS?

Are you dreaming of starting your own business but don’t know where to begin? Do you already have your own business but find yourself overwhelmed by the demands of paperwork? Perhaps you want to take your business to the next level.

Running a small business can be challenging, especially if your background is landscaping rather than office management. If you would like to learn some skills in business management to make your business more profitable, to make paperwork and compliance less time consuming, and to make staff management simpler, perhaps you could consider undertaking a business qualification.

There are many courses that you can consider. Some deal with most aspects of running a business, some deal with specific areas that could be useful. For example:

  • Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business
  • Short Course in Introductory Accounting for Small Business Owner
  • Short Course in Create a Business Website using WordPress; and
  • Bachelor, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, Certificate I, II, III or IV in Business.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

Have you worked in the industry for many years without formal qualifications? Do you have other related qualifications to the one you want? You may be able to have these qualifications, skills and experience recognised through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. Contact ARO College or your local TAFE to discuss what you need to do.
